Since I’m a big supporter of the Princess Margaret Hospital, I’ve once again just come back from the newest show home in Oakville. Below I’ll share with you some of my favourite finds throughout this beautiful home.

I loved the rounded palladian windows this year throughout the home which are evident in both the front entrance and grand living room.

What I found unique about the living room is how Brian Gluckstein extended the seating area with the addition of an extra plexiglass table flanked by 2 chairs. Tons of seating for many guests in this large room.

Here is the great room which is wallpapered in a brown grasscloth wallpaper. In fact there was lots of grasscloth going on in various rooms throughout the home in different colours. This is a great way to texturize the walls and add depth and warmth to them.

Although not really to my taste, this very modern, minimalistic kitchen made great use of space of the very long island where it houses the sink and all of the appliances except for the very large refrigerator. The pantry and refrigerator look to be the same size and are flanking a backed countertop. The countertops were all done in a light grey quartz and the cupboards, being very modern and clean-lined were without pulls or knobs.

Although most of the home was decorated in browns and greys, it was a pleasant surprise to see the study/office done in the Pantone colour of the year “Marsala”. It really does stand out in this bold colour! And I love the ultra-modern light fixture!

So this was a nice surprise – just off the office was a wonderful children’s playroom! I absolutely love the circus tent decor with soaring ceilings! Great idea – the white curtains might be a bit difficult to keep clean though with little ones!

Here is my absolute favourite room of the house. The master bathroom. The grey and white marble tiles throughout the room and the mosaic tile border is spectacular. I thought the floral mural painted behind the stand alone tub was unique and added an element of femininity to the room. The window seat is a great idea for placing bathrobes or sitting waiting for the tub to fill. And finally, what a neat idea to have a sink and vanity right in the shower. Well done!

Now for the basement. Loved how spacious the halls are this year! I certainly didn’t feel like I was in a basement and I am a big fan of coffered ceilings!

IMG_0094

The theatre room is very “glam” this year and the cozy chaise longues looked very inviting! Definitely not your typical theatre room seating which I very much enjoyed seeing.

Another surprise was the putting green on the other side of the theatre room! The room was complete with imitation grass and a wall to wall mural depicting a golf course! Of course my son would be all over this should we be lucky enough to win this home and I would think that he’d NEVER move out!

Now what’s a basement without a massage room, complete with essential oils and plush towels? Especially after you’ve been putting all day long? This was also one of the rooms I surprisingly found in the basement!

That’s it for my tour of the 2015 Princess Margaret Show Home in Oakville at the corner of Linbrook Road and David Ave. I hope you enjoyed viewing some of my favourite elements as much as I enjoyed touring the home. Tickets are on sale on-line at www.princessmargaretlotto.com or at the home itself.
