My clients recently purchased their beautiful newly built home and although it had some wonderful finishes, it lacked any furniture or decor. Our goal was to design a comfortable room for their family of four to enjoy but it had to be dog friendly as well for their Airedale Terrier to hang out in. We wanted to keep the decor light and airy at the same time without compromising on fabric durability. We were able to do this by designing custom sofas that we were able to stain guard and chose durable end and coffee tables in a grey wood/metal finish. Contemporary leather recliners were placed in the centre of the room as a perfect compliment to the decor and for comfy t.v. watching. We stuck to neutral grays in both the fabrics and coffee/end tables but we added in pops of cool blue in the stunning area rug, artwork, toss cushions and accessories. My clients are music lovers so we displayed their acoustical guitars and to warm up some of the cooler colours, we brought in some warm wood lamps and warm gold metal in some of the accessories. Due to the large windows in the room, it was important to have blinds in order to view the t.v. so we chose some light grey textured ones that work remotely and compliment the furniture and furnishings beautifully. The kitchen was already designed however we found a gorgeous table, chairs and a bench that work perfectly in the space between the family room and kitchen working area. We also changed out the light fixture to a modern farmhouse linear one that works perfectly with lines of the table, added in some artwork in both the family room and hall that work harmoniously with each other and then found some really comfortable counter stools for the island that we custom upholstered in the same durable fabric as the bench and chairs in the kitchen. Finally the hall needed seating and some decor so the bench we chose has storage and very clean lines to go with the rest of the decor in the home. The funky round mirrors were the perfect addition above the bench. My clients are very happy with their newly designed space that they can enjoy both quiet evenings and entertaining in!
