This home that was purchased in fall of 2017 was a dark, dated space that had extra rooms on the main floor that didn’t work for the new family and the upper level was a bit cramped, so we hired an architect and completely redesigned every room to make it livable and appropriate for the new family. We also put an addition over the garage to allow for a larger master bedroom, changed the bathroom to a spacious walk in closet with an island and the original master bedroom is now our ensuite. On the main floor, the original kitchen is now a main floor office and a new spacious laundry/mudroom. The kitchen was placed at the back of the home overlooking the lovely private yard with pool and hottub. Since it was originally a sunroom addition which included a bedroom and large bathroom, there was lots of space to build a large kitchen complete with a butler’s pantry leading to the dining room and a large walk in pantry. We used very light white oak engineered hardwood throughout and kept all decor bright and white. Simply White and Classic Gray by Benjamin Moore were the only paint colours used throughout except for the feature wall in the dining room which is Deep Space. It was also used on the kitchen island and the walk in pantry door. All furniture and furnishings were kept light and bright as well as more on the contemporary side to allow for a coastal vibe. Lots of gold accents were carried throughout as well as chrome, polished nickel and black hardware as well. Attention to every detail is evident throughout our home with every aspect. All ceilings were raised and in some cases coffered or vaulted ceilings were built. In the family room shiplap and beams were added. In the master bedroom addition, vaulted ceilings were created. The home is a smart home in every sense of the word with remote control blinds and lighting controlled by Alexa, a Sonos music system, a Rainbird sprinkler system controlled by our iPhones, a Ring doorbell system that allows us to see who is at our door and answer it from anywhere, the ability to control our pool filter and heater via iPhone, LeGrand receptacles and light switches, etc. The result is a very bright and airy space perfect for entertaining that my family and I will enjoy for years to come. We couldn’t be happier with the outcome!
