Once again I had the pleasure of touring the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre Welcome Home Lottery Show Home. This year I’ll keep it short and sweet though in the essence of time (which I don’t seem to have much of for writing these days unfortunately)!
A few highlights of this year’s Oakville show home once again designed and decorated by Brian Gluckstein and his team were:
The 2-sided fireplace that faced the outdoor courtyard on the outside and the front hall on the inside.
The outdoor lap pool – first show home to have one! Happy they finally added one.
The kitchen pantry – I loved how it was open this year however backed by frosted window panes painted black.
The basement had a music theme to it this year. I enjoyed some of the decor like the guitars hung in the hallway and the framed album picture wall. However I wasn’t a fan of the tv being hung in the hall with a built in bench across from it. I can’t see anyone sitting comfortably there watching it. Not enough space in my opinion between the large t.v and the bench. And in the sitting room (which they are calling the music lounge), there was no t.v. but it was turned into a sitting area and a stage with a drum set. I know this fits in with their music theme, but I just don’t think it’s going to appeal to most people. Creative but not very functional in my opinion.
The decor in the great room was a beautiful dark shade of teal this year…and the walls were teal grasscloth. Very sophisticated!
I enjoyed the tin containers of faux cactus’ of varying heights and widths that filled the staircase ledges. Great way to add interest to an otherwise boring space. No watering needed either which is always a bonus!
Once again I purchased 3 tickets and should I win this year, Brian was kind enough to shadow box frame a “G” in the front foyer which would suit my family just fine!
Worth touring it and seeing it for yourself though – even though I’m going to win it this year!
